When the mercury is fluctuating wildly and the children always have a thousand reasons to want to go outside, making sure they stay warm (without boiling!) becomes a winter sport in itself.
Here is our simple guide to dressing them from head to toe, with the right NOPé accessories and a few extra essentials, depending on the weather variations.

Mild temperatures (0°C to -5°C)
Ideal for running, climbing, sliding… and working up a sweat! We opt here for light and breathable layers.
Suggested kit:
- NOPé toque: soft, stretchy, and easily adjustable on the head, remove it if their ears get too hot.
- Base layer in merino wool or polyester.
- Lightweight snow pants or lined windbreakers.
- Insulated coat, but not too thick.
Bonus: windproof mittens and waterproof mid-season boots for playing in the fresh snow of the first snowfalls.

Moderate cold (-5 °C à -15 °C)
It's the perfect area to build forts, pull sleds and stay outside for a long time, well protected.
Suggested kit:
- NOPé hood: an essential item to pack in your child's bag for a beautiful day out. Available in two sizes to fit all heads: 3-6 years and 7-12 years!
- Thermal base layer + fleece mid-layer.
- Lined snow pants.
- Quilted winter coat with a hood.
Don't forget waterproof gloves, and a neck warmer to complete the look if they opt for a toque.

Extreme cold (-15°C and below)
When the air stings their cheeks on the ski slopes, every detail counts, regardless of age. Here, the aim is maximum warmth without compromising comfort and freedom of movement.
Suggested kit:
- NOPé overhood: designed to be worn over a ski or snowboard helmet for young athletes, but also works on its own to create a warm cocoon around the head.
- Thermal underlayer (top/bottom).
- Fleece or thin down jacket as a mid-layer.
- A well-insulated, wind-resistant coat and trousers set.
Tip: Double up on socks and choose winter boots designed for -30°C and below. Warm feet are just as important as keeping your head warm!

For mini-adventurers (3-6 years old)
Their bodies heat up quickly, but also cool down very quickly if they stop. The key: accessories adapted to their body shape.
Suggested kit:
- NOPé hood, ages 3-6: easy to put on, covers the cheeks well, stays in place even when they wiggle around.
- Clothing with easy-to-use zippers.
- Long mittens + high boots with double Velcro closures.
Consider a one-piece merino pyjama-style baselayer: zero risk of their belly popping out.
Let's go on an adventure!
Every day outdoors is a chance to create memories, whether it's -2 or -22. With the right clothes and accessories, children can run, climb, slide, and dream freely. And for parents, it's the joy of seeing them thrive in the fresh air, comfortable and well-protected, whatever the weather. And that, we absolutely love.
At NOPé, we believe that the true magic of winter is experienced as a family, one outing at a time. So put on your hoods, tie your neck warmers, and head out on an adventure! We can't wait to see your outdoor moments: tag us in your photos with @nope_libre to share your active winter life.
